Titles are for Wussies.

Okay, they're not really, I just couldn't think of one. Titles are actually for winners. Hence...well, you get the idea.

Soooo...

I don't really have anything to say. I just got sick of seeing the same journal entry every time I logged onto deviantART for the past 6 months.

The only new thing (which technically isn't even new, since it happened a while ago) is that I finally graduated from college. Now I need to find myself a job. However, seeing as how I (for reasons still unbeknown to me) graduated with a degree in Math, it's not likely I'll find a job I like. Honestly, Math was just the only thing that seemed to pique my interest. In retrospect, I should've majored in Mass Communications, so I could do fun stuff, like take more pictures, or work for a TV studio, or direct movies. But alas, unless I either get really lucky, or go back to school, I'm up a creek without a paddle.

So, that's enough of that rant...

Anyway, I did however get to be a finalist once again in the Photographer's Forum Magazine Spring Contest, which is cool. It was with my deviation "c o l d". So, that's kind of cool. Next, I'll be entering some photos for my local fair in September. Hopefully, I'll do as good, if not better than last year!

But, that's about it everyone. Hope all's going well! Hopefully, I will get to edit some pictures soon, even though I know I always say that...

Soooooo...

It's been, like, forever since I've written a journal entry. There's a good reason for that. Very little has happened. But, I suppose I could shed some light on some recent stuff.

I'm really enjoying my new SLR. I seriously love it. I think I named it...but I can't remember what. I think it's really taken my photography to another level that I wasn't able to achieve with my old camera. That's not to say I didn't like my old camera. After all, it got me some great pictures over the past few years. But the new one has opened up far more possibilities. For one thing, I've gotten a wireless shutter control, which lets me keep my shutter open for unlimited amounts of time if I so choose. I'm also looking into buying a telephoto lens, since I had such a good time using =discordant-melody's.

Speaking of old camera having given me gold, one of my photos ([link]) has been chosen as a finalist in the Photographer's Forum Magazine annual contest! That's exciting for me, because I never even get close to winning stuff.

I'm also going to have some of my photos published in my campus literary and fine arts magazine.

Lastly, I was lucky enough to take a road trip down to Washington DC in January to see President Obama's inauguration. It was really quite cool, and a once in a lifetime sort of thing. I got a lot of pictures, but none are particularly post-worthy, so I don't think you'll be seeing any.

I suppose that's pretty much it for now. I'm pretty busy with school, so I haven't had much time to shoot anything new, let alone edit anything. Hopefully I'll get around to it, even though I know I always say that. I've still got pictures from fall that haven't been touched. Hopefully, I can get my deviantART traffic back up a little. I think because of my inactivity, it has kind of dwindled. I guess I'll just have to blow your minds. =)

So, Even though I can't do features, which I usually like to do, I guess I can at least update and tell everyone what's been going on.

First of all, half of my senior year is almost over. I really cannot believe how fast it's gone by.

One really exciting thing is that I'm taking a photography class, and learning how to develop and print my own images. It's really cool. I'm kind of getting to the point where I'm trying to convince my parents to let me build a darkroom in the house. I don't see that happening very soon though...

Also, one of the more awesome things to happen lately, I got an SLR! A Canon Rebel XT. Yeah, I know it's not the newest version, but I really don't care. Purely by luck, I found it in Target, and bought it in one night. It was $350.00, and brand new in the box. It was never touched besides by me. I really love it too. I can't wait until I have the time to really play around with it, and figure out all the cool stuff I can do.

I guess next on the agenda is trying to get a copy of Photoshop...Then I could really start trying to get more professional.

Lastly, I'm proud to say that I won a first prize on one of my photos in a local fair a month or so ago. I entered three, and one got first, and another one was awarded honorable mention! I was really happy about that, since I entered one last year and got squat. lol

So, that's about it for now.

Expect to see some new deviations more abundantly than I have been recently!

So, I had intended to write a new journal before last night for the sole purpose of featuring you awesome people. Unfortunately, idiot that I am, I put it off, and I forgot my subscription ran out yesterday. So, I can't feature until I buy a new one.

Unless, they changed it that you can still post thumbs even if you're not subscribed...? Anyone know? I've found out that you can now check your deviation messages by thumbs without a subscription, so maybe they changed that too...

If that's the case, I might not even buy a new subscription!

So, I went early today to see The Dark Knight with a few of my friends. Honestly, I was blown away. I walked out of the theater almost in shock. I even spent the better part of the afternoon in a daze, replaying what I'd seen.

Now, anyone that knows me will tell you I have a love for film more than anyone you will meet. I've seen the original Batman, with Jack Nicholson as The Joker, more times than I can count. And I really like that movie quite a bit. It's my favorite of the original series. However, I was completely and utterly astounded by Heath Ledger's performance. It was almost as if he did a complete transformation on the screen. Many people are comparing the two actors, and arguing that Ledger's portrayal was better, but the way I see it, there's not even a comparison. To me, they're like two completely different characters, like the new series is a completely different one than the old.

Jack was potent, and engaging, and made for some good comic relief, all while raising a fair amount of chaos in Gotham City. But Ledger was terrifying, maniacal, spontaneous; just overall frightening. You could never see what would come next.

In a nutshell, this role redefined Ledger to me. He proved to be one of the best contemporary actors I know of. I only wish I had appreciated his work earlier on.

But I suppose it's not too late to start...

---

Anyway, enough of my ranting about film.

As you may or may not have noticed, I haven't been doing much with my photos lately. I seriously thought that once summer came, it'd be easier for me to find time, unfortunately I was wrong. I promise I will though.

Other than that, tomorrow is one of my best friend's going away party. At my house. That might explain my lack of photography time. I've been spending everyday trying to get our yard in shape!

In other news, I finally actually almost won something here on DevART!!

I recently placed second in the contest "Yellow" from the =onewordphoto club. If you can't guess, I won for:

But so far, that's the only thing exciting that's happened. So, now, here's some features!!

And, what the hell, how about some for the occasion?

And don't forget to check my Shoutboard for more!!
